Facebook is a social utility that connects you with your friends and family anywhere in the world. With facebook you can sign up for free with just your e-mail and a password. Once you sign up you receive a profile that you can use to talk to people you know and find people you don’t know yet. There are over 60 million people who use facebook so it’s very likely that you will be able to find someone you would want to talk to. With facebook you can Stay in touch with friends and family, Share photos and videos, Control privacy online, Discuss shared interests and hobbies, and Plan parties and other events.
You can find the friends you have on your Aol Instant Messagenger, your web e-mail, e-mail application, or browse through profiles of the people in your highschool/college. On your profile you can upload pictures that you friends can see, send fun applications to your friends, network with friends, send messages to friends, and comment on each others pictures and profiles. Your profile can only be seen by the people you accept as friends, so you have much more privacy then many social networks. However, your friends can see any comments, messages, or applications that you send or recieve within your friends.
In conclusion, facebook is a great place to connect and stay in touch with friends and family, but like all things facebook has it's disadvantages and advantages. Try it out if you don't like it you can delete your profile completely.
